By Michael Laughlin, Vedic Astrologer
It seems like all of my clients seem to be falling apart at the seams. Now, I think that I am a fairly positive astrologer. It seems to me that if one meditates every day, and prays, and helps others, goes to bed on time and has a healthy diet, one can largely forget astrology. However, once in a while the planets gang upon us and force us to pay attention to them (and to our inner battle between the Ego and the Higher Self (the Divine Self). This year – 2019 – we have to deal with a particularly nasty combination that began around the end of May 2019 and lasts until at least November 2019.
That combination is the almost exact conjunction of Saturn and Ketu in the sidereal sign of Dhanur (Sagittarius). Many people say that Saturn is the ruler of suffering. Some jyotishis even say that the only planet one has to worry about is Saturn. Other astrologers say that one must pay a lot of attention to 3 grahas: Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. Ketu is the wild card in the game of astrology. It can, and will, do anything to get us on the Path of Spiritual Attainment. If we are too focused on worldly pleasures, and not on spiritual advancement, then Ketu will start to take things away from us. Things like our job, our emotional stability, our love relationship, our money, our health, etc. Ketu will do whatever it takes to force us to seek God or get onto a bona fide spiritual path such as meditation, religion, service to others, or raising our vibratory rate.
So, I have found myself, over and over, telling my clients that, this year, from May through November, Saturn and Ketu are the real story, no matter what our individual chart looks like.
Saturn rules the earth and is the most Earthbound of planets. Ketu, the great smasher, is smashing
Our beliefs, our emotions, our brains and our transcendental experiences. Also, Ketu is wreaking havoc on the financial system and causing more earthquakes, fires, hurricanes and shootings than normal.
But, the good news is that, at least according to me, this harsh period (something like this conjunction has not occurred for hundreds of years) is almost over. Why? Because, on November 4, 2019, blessed Jupiter, that most wonderful of planets, enters his own sign of Sagittarius, the very sign where Saturn and Ketu have been giving most of us a very hard time indeed. I believe that the powerful, golden aura of Jupiter will, more or less, nullify the dark and unstable vibrations of Saturn and Ketu. Things, like the stock market, will start to recover, at least to a certain degree.
However, things do not really get better until January 2020. The lucky half of the year begins on January 14, 2020. Then, on January 24, 2020, Saturn enters his own sign of Capricorn. The 2 outer planets, Jupiter and Saturn, are both in their own signs from January 24 until March 29, 2020. This 2 month period should see a surge in the stock market and also the beginning of the end of the trade war between the U.S. and China.
On March 29, 2020, Jupiter enters Capricorn, the sign of Jupiter’s debilitation. However, because Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn, is also in Capricorn, Jupiter, although neecha, has a Neecha Bhanga Raja Yoga. That means the cancellation of debilitation. Jupiter stays in Capricorn for exactly 3 months – until, by retrograde motion, Jupiter re-enters his own sign of Sagittarius. So, the 3 months between the end of March until the end of June will indicate a slowdown in the financial markets, but only to a very moderate degree. Also, it is important to note that, on May 14, 2020, Jupiter starts to go retrograde.
Now, when a planet is debilitated but also retrograde, it is supposed to be, more or less, equal to being exalted. Therefore, the slowdown of the markets will be mostly from March 29 until May 14. Things should start to pick up on May 14 and move into a higher gear on June 29 as Jupiter enters Sagittarius.
This should especially help the U.S.A. because, in the sidereal system, the U.S. has a Sagittarius ascendant. The period from June 29 until November 20, 2020, with Jupiter in his own sign and Capricorn (the ruler of the 2nd house of wealth in the chart of the U.S.) in his own sign, should be a period of great prosperity. On November 20, Jupiter enters Capricorn again.
One other important thing to note is that, on September 23, 2020, Rahu and Ketu, by retrograde motion, change signs. Rahu enters Taurus and Ketu enters Scorpio. Some jyotishis say that Taurus is the exaltation sign of Rahu and even more jyotishis say that Scorpio is the exaltation sign of Ketu.
Therefore, my overall conclusion is that things start to get better on November 4, 2019 and improve even more from January 24, 2020 until March 29, 2020. From May 14, 2020, until November 20, 2020, there should be a huge financial upswing. That upswing should be even better when Rahu and Ketu change signs starting on September 23, 2020. The rest of the year of 2020 should be in the B minus to A plus range.
Those are a few of my thoughts for the next 16 months.
